Why Keep a Journal

Journaling, like therapy and support, is an important tool for learning to manage and understand yourself.  Journals can be used by anyone.  They are safe independant places to jot down thoughts, feelings, and faustrations.

Journaling can seem like a lot of work at first, but it can also become an essential part of your day.  By sitting down and recording your thoughts, feelings, and ideas you are able to express yourself, where as, you may not have been able to before.

Writing and/ or drawing in a journal allows you to say things that you normally would be too afraid or embarassed to say out loud.  Journals are private.  They let you cry and complain without recieving negative feedback or becoming bothersome to others.  It also can prevent hurt feelings other partie may develop from irrationalized words said in the heat of a depressing or manic moment.

Journals can be a very safe place to explore yourself, events, topics, routines, and social connections.  Writing all these things down can help you develop a plan.  Plans help us to control a situation that may become stressful, overly emotional, or harmful.

Your journal can be your friend when you are feeling down, you don't want to bother anyone, or no one seems available to listen.  You can write it all down.

Remember the pen is mighter than the sword, and for whatever reason has you writing in your journal, you can save your written word for later.  It will be there to review when the occasion warrents it.

No one requires you to write daily, but maybe weekly, or perhaps when a situation warrents it.  The greatest thing about journaling is you decide when, where, and how often you do it.

When you sit down and journal it allows you to blast the pages with spurts of your life.  You may find it very helpful at times of depression, memorable moments, or other phases to go back and read your journal.  You don't have to share it with anyone.  Journals are private.

These are just a few I have created to help you get started.  Now all you need is a pen.
